WORKSHOP: Embroidered Photographs

Wednesday, Sep 17 20252 - 4pm

Treaty Space Gallery, 1887 Granville St

This workshop is part of the Youth United Will Never Be Defeated travelling exhibition and the work of Transform(émonos), a Mexico-based embroidery collective. Led by Dr. Graciela Zalce, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the session features 14 embroidered photographs—transformed by youth to reflect experiences of gendered violence and resistance—each accompanied by reflective cards translated from Spanish.

Participants will engage with the artwork and take part in a collective embroidery activity. Materials will be provided. This feminist and decolonial textile project emerges from TRANSFORM: Engaging with Youth for Social Change, connecting visual storytelling to gender transformation.
