Apex: The Black Masters is a short documentary about a historic Black community in Truro, Nova Scotia, and its evolving relationship with a neighbouring golf course. Through personal memories and interviews, the film shows how residents of “The Island” went from being excluded from the club because of race to creating and now celebrating the annual Apex Invitational golf tournament for 50 years.
This film was created by Brittney Gavin and Amy Mielke and is being screened in conjunction with Forbes Sang's MFA Thesis Exhibition, Mulligan.
