The Anna Welcomes Ava Clarke!
The Anna Leonowens Gallery is excited to welcome Ava Clarke to the position of Treaty Education Curatorial Assistant! Ava will work at NSCAD Treaty Space Gallery helping to plan events and exhibitions for the 2023/2024 academic year.
Ava is originally from Rothesay, New Brunswick, the traditional territory of the Wolastoqiyik and the Mi’kmaq. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Acadia University, where she majored in history and minored in classics. Ava is currently entering the second year of her master’s in history at Dalhousie University. Her area of study is Indigenous material culture and the history of Mi’kmaw wood-splint flowers.
Ava’s goals are to create new opportunities for treaty education, help elevate the work of local Indigenous artists, find ways to decolonize her own research, and learn from her new peers at NSCAD.
