The Anna and Treaty Space Gallery welcomes Trina Annand as Gallery Coordinator
Trina Annand is an arts facilitator who comes from just outside Sipekne'katik. Trina gravitated to arts administration as a career to help people achieve their artistic dreams and champion the power of art in daily life. She loves talking to artists, learning about their practices and hearing their stories.
Since 2015 Trina has been engaging with artists to elevate and celebrate their practices. Spending her childhood as a craft market kid, she was raised in a creative environment. A connector at heart, she encourages collaboration in its many forms because nothing is stronger than community. In her previous role at NSCAD as Alumni & Events Officer, she launched Art Work: NSCAD Alumni Talks where alumni talk about their careers, their time at art school and redefine success for viewers.
Through her position at the Treaty Space Gallery, Trina is excited to build on the strong community already in place with increased exhibitions and workshops. As an avid TSG programming participant, Trina loves engaging with community and art. She hopes to develop more community-based work in the future and collaborate with indigenous artists from across Turtle Island.
A 2011 NSCAD alumna, Trina also has a degree in journalism from the University of King’s College, she wrote for several magazines and previously worked with Craft Nova Scotia. She is looking to combine her interests in decolonization, storytelling, nature and community with her writing, textiles and photography training. After some fallow years she is reviving her artistic practice.
