Young offers: "A painting exhibition centered on light and shadow, the act of applying material and taking it away. Searching for and attempting to express a source that cannot be seen. Repetitive imagery and motifs converge where there can be no victory. Creeping toward the worst question, the only certainty is material itself unfolding alongside the infinite and the inner life. The work seeks footing within the immensity of being. There is an irrational desire to return to beginning, and a longing for clarity that echoes within the heart, where lucidity and anguish meet. To not know, and still to hope. Creation becomes an act of feeling and of description, and no light casts without shadow."
