"The Game of Life" is an exhibition of large scale, highly detailed abstract oil paintings. Featured is a series of five paintings heavily inspired by mathematician John Conway’s early computational theory, “The Game of Life”. The series works within a strict system of logic, and borrows from the aesthetics of linear algebra and geometry. Introducing a human hand with a paintbrush into these computational systems creates tension. The result of these conflicting forces is an all-consuming, absurd at times, world of simultaneous computational logic and human error. Through this, the exhibition explores determinism, automation, and a non-representational life.
