Opening reception: 31 October, 5:30 – 7PM
McDonah offers: “This exhibition presents a series of oil paintings of human and animal portraits. These works are heavily influenced by folk art, both in the self-reliant aspects of learning painting techniques and the playful stylistic choices in portraiture. The portraits are mainly allegorical, referencing pop culture events in a similar fashion to Greek mythology or Christianity in classical art. For instance: Mike Tyson's self-projection onto his pet tiger in the work ‘Unlovable Beast’.”
