Join us for a Tree-ty Press-ervation land-based learning experience!
Tree-ty Press-ervation is a land-based learning activity centered on the maple tree that invites participants to engage with nature, culture, and treaty education through observation, storytelling, and hands-on creation. Through a guided nature walk, participants learn to identify maple trees and explore basic biological knowledge of maple leaves alongside cultural teachings, offering a natural, accessible example of Two Eyed Seeing in practice. Following the walk, participants reflect on the cultural significance of the maple through shared storytelling before collecting fallen leaves to preserve using plant presses. This act of preservation encourages both environmental care and personal reflection, serving as a reminder of what participants learned, who they were in that moment, and their ongoing commitment to Treaty education and respectful relationships with the land. This programming is facilitated by Krista Collier-Jarvis and the Two-Eyed Seeing program at MSVU.
This gathering invites NSCAD students to engage with nature, culture, and treaty education through observation, storytelling, and hands-on creation. Snacks and nature journal provided!
