Join us for the final winter event of the Seeding & Beading project! This gathering is to celebrate and thank the connections we’ve made over the course of the project. You do not need to have participated in any previous programming to attend this event; all are welcome!
We will be enjoying tea, bannock, and other treats cooked over the fire. Dress warmly and bring a blanket or chair to sit on. The event will take place at Sands at Salter, the beach volleyball sands on the Halifax waterfront at the back of the Salter parking lot, 1521 Lower Water St.
The events and workshops part of Seeding & Beading have been held at various sites of difficult histories within HRM. Through this event, we invite participants to consider some of the waterfront's difficult history (colonial violence against the Mi’kmaq, the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, cultural erasure of immigrants), and how we can engage in unsettling our relationship to these spaces and learn to care for the histories and land. Our goal is to create a positive experience where we can work towards transforming our collective memories to counter-memorialize these sites and challenge colonial amnesia.
