SUMMER PROGRAMMING: Creating with Community
We are excited to announce our upcoming Treaty Space Gallery summer programming: Creating with Community! This project is funded by Indigenous Youth Roots.
Creating with Community seeks to increase the wellness, resiliency and engagement of urban-Indigenous youth through providing access to arts, art-based workshops, cultural knowledge, and traditions through the means of hiring Indigenous artists to instruct workshops. Activities are free-of-charge and open to Indigenous people of all ages.
We seek to involve Indigenous people at every level of our programming, by sourcing workshop materials from Indigenous-owned businesses, hiring emerging and established Indigenous artists to instruct workshops, building a team of 3+ Indigenous youth project leaders, and prioritizing Indigenous youth participants. Stay tuned for more details!
Potential upcoming events include, but are not limited to:
- Movement Workshop
- Indigenous Foods Workshop
- Sealskin and Fox Fur PomPom Workshop
- Rawhide Hand Drum Making Workshop
