The Anna welcomes Nina-Simone Kellman and Alice Shirtliffe as 2025 Grad Show curators!
The Anna Leonowens Gallery is excited to welcome Nina-Simone Kellman and Alice Shirtliffe as this year's Graduation Exhibition curatorial interns.
Nina-Simone Kellman is an artist from Anishinabeg (Newcastle, ON) currently based in Kjipuktuk (Halifax, NS), studying fine arts at NSCAD working towards a BFA with a focus in painting. Within their work they explore themes of surrealism, perversion, shame and desire through representational oil paintings.
Alice Shirtliffe is a visual artist from Saskatoon SK (Treaty 6 Territory) who lives and works in Kjipuktuk. Working towards a BFA at NSCAD University with a minor in Art History, their oil painting practice evokes the experience of interacting with digital phenomena while questioning arbitrary distinctions between self and other.
Following their co-curatorial debut exhibition The Nude in July 2024, Kellman and Shirtliffe are enormously grateful for the opportunity to collaboratively curate the 2025 Graduation Exhibition, and cannot wait to work with the Anna Leonowens staff and NSCAD community, emphasizing that they "could not have asked for a better graduating body to work alongside!"
If you are a NSCAD student graduating in May '25, keep an eye on your inbox in February for info about submitting works to the exhibition.
