Clinging to Olden Times, and Ways and Things
Mykaela Shandro
-
Gallery 3
undergraduate exhibitor
In this fabricated idealization of her childhood home, Mykaela Shandro unravels the complexities of memory, family history and narrative time through craft and found objects, or as she calls it, "memory garbage". Using ceramics, textiles, old family photographs, hand-me-down furniture and memorabilia, she makes work that ebbs and flows in time, place, material and memory. Shandro shares her experiences of reckoning with and mourning what has been lost to time in this interactive installation that engages the present mind with the forgotten past.
