“New Skin Old Bones” is an exploration of personal narrative and visual expression. Through an autobiographical lens, Megan Johnson crafts a distinctive visual language in multiple mediums infused with memory specific motifs and symbols. This unique symbolism serves not only to narrate her stories but also to mirror her continuous journey of self-discovery and introspection. Her metaphor of “shedding skin” encapsulates the transformative and evolving nature of her artistic practice, highlighting how her work functions as both an intimate exploration and a means of uncovering deeper truths about herself.
