Undergraduate exhibitor
This exhibition features paintings and sculptures made primarily of found objects alongside televisions displaying animations. Like a travelling fair, the work has been constructed, displayed, destroyed, and reassembled many times. The pieces are altered by the deterioration of materials throughout this process and through Gavin Snow’s spontaneous mark-making. The artist challenges the painting medium and its place in the 21st century as a commodity and home decor through continuous reconstruction and deconstruction of familiar ephemera. Snow questions, “How does the excess of art and design in the 21st century impact our relationship with physical materials and digitized media?”.
