soft structures is a love letter to the funny and odd experience of having a body. Through the medium of oil painting, Emily Flinn ruminates on the idea of the body as an artifact, rather than as a reflection in the mirror. This series of small oil paintings abstract the body by focusing on its topography and narrowing in on a variety of marks found atop the skin. Flinn contemplates the connection between the body, identity, and heritage.
