MFA Thesis exhibition
Exploring personal therapeutic modes of storytelling, Harris uses the medium of oil painting to discuss suicide. His visual language is filled with surreal landscapes and follows a semi-autobiographical character, named Happy.
The mythological journey of Happy extends into a multi-narrative comic book. Harris aims to accessibly approach the topic of suicide through an archetypal lens, exploring the many complexities of this difficult subject. The artist offers: “if we can speak about suicide more openly, perhaps those who experience ideations might feel safer and more compelled to come forward and seek help.”
