The Complexities of Pain

MFA Thesis exhibition
Opening reception: TUESDAY, 11 October, 5:30 – 7PM
As a means of coping and processing chapters of her medical past and uncertainties ahead, Gresik’s work revolves around the complexities of diagnosing, treating, and living with chronic illness and chronic pain.
Her work is textile based and is comprised of miniature quilts, each the size of a standard doctor’s prescription pad. Looking to objects she has been collecting during her thesis, Gresik uses the medium of quilting to create abstract, improvised meditations on these objects – all of which she associates with pain or with comfort.
