Knit Two Together (k2tog) is a personal exploration into the hidden histories of material objects. The connection between material, memory, and care illustrates the complexity of a domestic, handmade, functional object. This body of work investigates the critical importance of intergenerational communication through handcraft. Reprocessing a blanket made by her grandmother, the artist presents extensive material research conducted at local woolen mills. With the results, Banks explores her familial and cultural inheritance through garments knit by hand.
