Amalkewinu'k (The Dancers) will explore the evolution of Mi'kmaw regalia through a blend of contemporary and historical photographs, emphasizing its cultural, artistic, and ceremonial significance. Featuring studio portraits of Mi'kmaw community members in regalia alongside archival images, the exhibition highlights the transformation and ongoing relevance of regalia Mi'kmaw traditions. By presenting distinctively Mi'kmaw regalia, it challenges misconceptions about Indigenous cultural uniformity and celebrates Mi'kmaw artistic heritage—honouring both past and present community artists who continue to preserve these essential traditions.
