Special Guest Lectures: Jude Gerrard

Monday, Feb 13 20231:30 - 3:30pm

NSCAD Port Campus, 1107 Marginal Rd.

NSCAD University Port Campus, Room 205
All are welcome!

Jude Gerrard is a member of Millbrook First Nation. He has worked for many departments within the NS public service, including Education and Early Childhood Education, where he helped establish Treaty Education in Nova Scotia. In his spare time he has practiced blending traditional indigenous art with folk art as well as contemporary art.

Jude Gerrard will be hosting frank conversations with the students/future teachers who are currently enrolled in 2 separate sections of EDAR 5050 : Visual Arts in the Classroom. There will be discussion about the difference between cultural appropriation vs. cultural appreciation when it comes to indigenous art, as well as the concept of reconciliation versus 'reconcili-action' with Indigenous people.

In case of poor weather, we will dismiss early in the afternoon so everyone can get home safely.
