Treaty Space Gallery, 1107 Marginal Rd.

Aghalingiak (Zoe Ohokannoak)
Kanok Piniaka / The Process of Embodied Practices

OPENING RECEPTION: Thurs 29 Sept, 12 - 2PM
ARTIST TALK: Thurs 29 Sept, 1PM

Undergraduate exhibitor Aghalingiak offers: “Inuit embodied practices are integrated and woven throughout the north, where they vary in context, meaning, and value. This exhibition is intended to demonstrate the process behind traditional Inuit tattoos, what they may look like and, most importantly, the thoughts, care, meanings, and histories behind the practices.

I have been studying and researching this subject of my cultural heritage (I am Inuinnait or Copper Inuit) for over 2.5 years now and hope to show this wonderful art form to colleagues, peers, mentors, and other people from Halifax.”
