The Being Black in Canada series, part of the Fabienne Colas Foundation’s Youth & Diversity Program, gave a voice and a platform to 15 emerging Black filmmakers (from Montreal, Toronto and Halifax) who, after dedicated training and mentorship, created their first short documentary films on what it’s like to be Black in their own city.⠀

Fabienne Colas will dive into what brought her to create this program through her foundation and the context of film creation through that program and what opportunities are available for emerging filmmakers.⠀

This is Fabienne’s second presentation as part of her virtual residency at NSCAD University. ALL are welcome to attend! ASL interpretation available, please contact annaleonowens@nscad.ca for details. This presentation will be recorded and available on NSCAD’s Kaltura platform once captioning is complete.
